If you are new to church or to faith in general, we think this narrative version of beliefs will make more sense to you. If you are interested in more specifics, there’s a downloadable page for you at the bottom.
The story found in the pages of Scripture is filled with narrative, poetry, song, and letters.
It’s a story of love, of hope, of great suffering, and great joy. It has romance and murder. Mystery and clarity.
It’s a story that begins with creation, and ends with re-creation. Its pages tell the story of a God who is constantly pursuing a relationship with His creation. At the center of the story is one person – fully man and yet fully God.
Jesus is at the center of this story and He calls us back to a relationship with God the way it was originally intended. His message is that the kingdom of God has invaded the kingdom of man. It’s a future and somehow already present kingdom where the ways of love and justice and beauty reign over violence and power and oppression.
We are invited into this story by Jesus himself, as cowriters – those that help to bring about the kingdom of God on earth. It’s by living the way of Jesus that the kingdom becomes a reality. We are therefore invited to partner with him in re-creation, and in putting the world back together the way that God intended – on earth, as it is in heaven.
This is the story we give ourselves to. A story of redemption, and rescue, and restoration, of which we are active participants.
